Chateaux & Terroirs, on the Bordeaux wine roads

From 50€ / pers

Do you have only a few hours to discover the Bordeaux wine country? Then this "flying visit" is just for you! Are you interested in seeing mythical châteaux in the Médoc? Famous estates in Saint-Emilion? The "golden" wines of Sauternais? Yes, but there is so much more! Bordeaux also has plenty of lesser-known appellations, small family estates, affordable wines, etc.

  • A good overview for a first visit
  • Tour conducted by official guides with professional card, in French and in English
  • An attractive price for a first discovery of the Bordeaux vineyards
  • Discover the amazing underground church of Saint-Emilion
  • Due to the European Heritage Days on September 22, the destination is the Médoc on that day.

With this tour you will discover the diversity of the Bordeaux wines during an afternoon session every week. The destination is different every day and each one has its own special charms!

Summer period 2024 :

Saint-Emilion, the name of a famous charming village and of delicious wines, on Monday & Sunday. You will start with the visit of the amazing underground church in the Saint-Emilion village followed by a guided tour in the small streets. Then the tour continues with a visit to one wine estate in Saint-Emilion appellation or surroundings where you will learn about the winemaking process by discovering the vat room, the cellars with all the barrels, etc.. A tasting of 2 wines will be offered.

The Medoc on Tuesdays & Saturdays and Entre-deux-Mers on Thursdays with the visit of 2 wineries and wine tasting. Your guide will remind you at this point that you first of all taste wine with your eyes and nose!

Visit the Graves and Sauternais on Wednesdays to discover two beautiful wineries and taste all the colors of the wines, one in Graves and one in Sauternais.

Bourg & Blaye on Fridays is a nice wine region North of Bordeaux along the Gironde Estuary; two familial properties will open their doors to show you how they make the wine; a tasting of 2 wines at each chateau is on the program.

Not what was advertised

We thought we were booking a English speaking wine tour of Bordeaux. Instead we got a historical tour of the town and 1 winery. Bridget was great except she spoke in English the French which took twice as long so we had no time to explore the town. We found out later that out of the whole tour group there wad only 4 French speaking people. I would not recommend this if you want to do a winery tour of Bordeaux. Many people in the group I spoke to weren't happy.

Interesting trip

We did two of the trips - Médoc and St Emilion. Both were very interesting and informative. Our only comment is if there were chateaux closer to Bordeaux for the Médoc trip to reduce the travel time as it was a long time in the coach

Too short free time with the too big group.
Yuki 09/01/2024
It was a good and enjoyable tour, and I am generally satisfied that I took part in it. However, the group was too big for the total duration, and especially in the visiting of the village of Saint-Emil-ion, we had to wait other people catching up and following so often that the free sightseeing time was shorten even more. It was really pity that there was only less than an hour to walk and look around in the village of Saint-Emilien. The visit and the guide at the Château was very good and I want to thank the owner.

Answer from Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole

Dear Yuki, We thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read that you were unhappy with certain points of your tour. This half-day trip lasts 5 hours but includes the transport, the visits of the winery and the underground church, that's why there is not a lot of free time in the village. According to the size of the group, if you want we offer others tours with smaller group of 8 persons. We hope you will keep good memories of Bordeaux and we are looking forward to seeing you here again. Best regards, Bordeaux Tourist Office team

Best introductory journey to Bordeaux winery

Firstly, we were impressed with people’s quality of service and commitment at tourism office. They responded to my questions and requests in a timely and sophisticated manner, even during weekend. They are amazing team! Secondly, winery tour provided good opportunities to understand wine production facilities & process. Wine tasting was a good experience to be enjoyable with our family and other guests. Finally, this tour seemed reasonably priced and transported in a very comfortable coach. One thing is to comment: it would be better if we could walk along vineyards from my preference. I will recommend this activity to my friends.
