Well worth it for us - made the visit easier and more care-free
-We loved our 3 day City Passes, they made visiting Bordeaux’s numerous attractions and using its public transport much easier, especially as people who have limited French language skills.
-We most certainly recommend the City Pass if you are active and enjoy museums/galleries/historical sites.
-I think …we easily got ‘our money’s worth’ with City Pass
-We zipped about using Bordeaux’s (…free with the Pass..,) efficient bus & tram networks, seeing plenty of great places.
-We walked loads, but the free transport can extend your range, reduce travel time, and help tired feet.
- We felt the passes give you a freedom to try lots of the recommended/free-with-Pass places without feeling you must give them lots of time as one might feel when paying individual entry fees.
- Do ensure you select & book your free tourist train/boat/tour bus option when you activate your pass at the Tourist Info office. —We enjoyed the boat trip option (a good/nice/wry commentator, with good views, a free drink & wee bit of cake!).
- if you climb the Cathedral-adjacent Tour (Tower) Pey-Berland you need to book this specifically too via their website. Doing so & selecting the City Pass’s ‘no pay’ option felt uncertain I recall but we got there in the end.
- As cider & beer preferers, we still really enjoyed the Cité du Vin museum. It’s generally impressive, but we especially enjoyed the history of wine section which was amusing/well done.
- We enjoyed the treasure/interest-rich Aquitaine Museum (Regional history)
-The Bassins des Lumières building and exhibition is good too.

Great, informative tour -- highly reccomend!
The Saint-Emilion & Margaux tour was lovely! Super comfortable, efficient with lots of wine and a great lunch. Our tour guide was amazing, as well! Highly recommend.

Great afternoon exploring the Medoc area
Great afternoon with Emmanuel, really enjoyed the two separate vineyard visits. Learnt a lot and tasted some delicious wines that I wouldn’t have experienced myself. Also, it was a lovely little group of 5 on the trip which made it really engaging and friendly. Really enjoyed it, thanks a mill Emmanuel.

Herzlich willkommen
Die private Führung durch das Weingut war sehr interessant und aufschlussreich. Zum Schluss dann noch die sehr feinen Weiß- und Rotweine des Chateau probiert,

Cruise Garonne
The staff were very pleasant.
The river cruise was very short.
Lunch was very average, dessert was the best part.

A very enjoyable and informative experience
Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned enthusiast, this wine tour offers something for everyone. Emmanuel, our guide, along with the hosts at each vineyard, ensured that we left with a deeper understanding of Bordeaux wines. They struck a nice balance between delivering informative content and keeping the experience light and engaging.
One of the highlights was tasting wines from two distinct terroirs — Pomerol and Saint-Émilion — as opposed to just one. This allowed for a fun compare-and-contrast exercise.
The tour departs from the Cité du Vin, which also makes it ideal to combine with a visit to the museum either before or after. Since we we’re relatively new to the world of wine, this pairing added some more context to the day and helped us make the most of our experience.
Although Vert Bordeaux’s commitment to sustainability wasn’t a decisive factor in our booking, we were impressed to learn about more conscious winemaking. It’s an admirable focus for sure.
If there’s one aspect I’d change, it would be the brief stop in Saint-Émilion. While the guided walk and tasting of a local speciality were enjoyable, the 30 minutes of free time felt a bit rushed and didn’t allow for much exploration or a relaxed meal. That said, given the constraints of a half-day itinerary, the limited time is understandable.
