Guided tour

Bordeaux walking tour

From 13€ / pers

Discover the historic city centre with a knowledgeable guide. This 2 hour guided walking tour includes some of the city’s most remarkable 18th century architecture, as well as the highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage area.

  • guided tour
  • old district
  • main sights

Discovering Bordeaux on foot is the best way to experience the city’s diversity. The ‘City of The Lumières’, drawn up with a compass by 18th century architects and town planners, is synonymous with harmony: hôtels particuliers, beautiful squares and avenues are spread all along this route that takes you through picturesque areas like Saint Rémi and Saint Pierre quarters.

Some of the winding streetshave not changed since the Middle Ages. “Blondstone” is present everywhere, including in the sculpted faces that sit atop the city centre doorways, the mascarons. These stand as remarkable examples of art and masonry.

Great intro to Bordeaux
Janice Baker 09/22/2024
We really enjoyed this tour-- a perfect intro to Bordeaux. The only concern is the audio system was quite staticky, so if we weren't right next to the guide, it was difficult to hear. That being said, we enjoyed the tour-- very interesting and fun.

Answer from Monsieur l'Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole

Dear Janice, We have noticed your feedback about the visit and thank you for it. In a quality concern, we send your impressions to the guide to improve the quality of this tour in the future. We hope that you enjoyed your time in Bordeaux anyway and looking forward to welcoming you again. Best regards, Bordeaux Tourist Office team

Missed walk
Catherine Watson 09/21/2024
Unfortunately we missed the tour as the traffic and tram into Bordeaux was very busy We were unable to make the next day tour so we lost our money We did go on the open bus tour so it would have been nice if this had been offered as an alternative but we had to pay again

Answer from Monsieur l'Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole

Dear Catherine, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Regarding the refund of the visit you missed, it is not possible to reimburse for a delay as stipulated in the general terms and conditions of sale. We could only offer you a deferral on the same visit that is organized by the tourist office directly. The bus tour is sold at the tourist office but is organized by another company which justifies to charge the seats. For economic reasons, anyone who does not show up for a visit leaves empty seats without the possibility of resale. Replacement on another visit is offered as a favor but does not allow the organizer to reimburse the loss of profit. I hope that you will better understand our constraints and that you have had a good stay in Bordeaux despite this disagrement. Looking forward to welcoming you again. Bordeaux Tourist Office team

Good experience in Bordeaux
Robert 09/18/2024
Alcide got pretty deep into Greek mythology while explaining Bordeaux’s fountain and the inside of the House of Wine. While interesting to a point, it meant we never got background on things like the water mirror or Hotel de Ville. But he had an entertaining tour, was easy to understand and did an amazing job keeping everyone safe from bikes and trams. I think we were lucky in that we got an English only tour while it seems some tours split time between French and English. Very good experience.
